Dipolog City Hall

Dipolog was a remote barrio of Dapitan. To upgrade its status to a municipalitythe Governor of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu, US General John J. Pershing, gave a condition that an administrative building beconstructed within six months& anelaborateinauguration arrangementwas made.With the cooperation of the residents and influential members of the Centro Catolico de Dipolog a fund was raised and needed materials were mobilized. On a full moon on a Holy Saturday in 1913 the first molave post was erected and the work gangs supervised by engineer-architect Francisco Garcia, Roman Catholic Curate of Dipolog, wrapped up the construction in three months. On July 1, 1913 Dipolog was formally declared a municipality with Pershing himself present and installed the first set of Municipality officials.

Magsaysay Park

A landscaped park providing an oasis of greenery right in the center of  Dipolog City. It is a converging point for many  people from all walks of life for simple strolling and relaxing. The hectare sized lot just beside the City Hall and fronting the Holy Rosary Cathedral is an ideal place for small  outdoor meetings in a nature setting.

Holy Rosary Cathedral

A symbol of Dipolog’s deep religiosity, the Holy Rosary Cathedral started as a humble chapel. In 1894 it was  renovated  and  expanded, on an altar designed by Dr. Jose P. Rizal who was serving the tenure of his Dapitan exile.

Sta. Cruz Marker

The spot where migrating Boholanos from the Visayas landed on and planted the Cross for ChristianityonMay 3, 1905. Along the shore, it is at one end of Rizal Avenue & faces the Holy Rosary Cathedral.

3003 Steps to Linabo Peak

Concrete steps winding along a tunnel of verdant trees leads to a panoramic vista of sky, plains and sea horizons and a spectacular view of the twin cities of Dipolog and Dapitan. This is Dipolog’s highest elevation point – 486 meters above sea level. Fourteen Stations of the Cross punctuate the way up. At the peak, one can find a community chapel for prayer and contemplation, a very conducive setting for both quiet and soaring spirits and a favorite retreat during Lenten season.


Pamansalan-OISCA Forest Park

This 64-hectare lush forest gives trekkers and nature buffs an unforgettable experience with nature at its best. The park is a joint project of the City Government of Dipolog and the OISCA (Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement) of Japan. Constructed on the site are an Agro-Forestry Training Center, an Eco-Tech Secondary Education Building and a mini Research Center. Also found in the park is the Sungkilaw Falls.


Sicayab Beach

This seven-kilometer velvet stretch of fine gray sand is only four kilometers from the city proper, which is a favorite haven of the holiday and weekend crowd.
